The commune of Gârda de Sus, situated in the NV extremity of Alba county, on the upper cours of Arieşul Mare, at a distance of 32 km from City Câmpeni the "capital" of Moţilor Country. It is guarded by three mountain bastions: Curcubata Peak (1849m) to the west, Big Mountain (1825m) in east and Vlădeasa Peak (1834m) to the north. From west to east is crossed by the river of Ariesul Mare, which has its source in Pasul Vârtop. One both sides of the upper course of this river, there are landscapes of a rare beauty that delight the tourists and attract them to stop.
The area is the center of a circle containing at its extremity the cities of Cluj-Napoca at 133 km, Oradea at 130 km, Arad at 190 km, Deva at 135 km and Alba Iulia at 110 km, representing an approximately equal attraction to tourists from these areas .

In this commune can get the DN 75 road that connects the towns of Turda and Ştei, this road providing an opening to both the west and toward the center of the country, which makes it easier to reach in this wonderful heart of the Apuseni .
