Community presentation: Diosig


Diosig is a commune in the north-western part of Bihor County, with a total area of 9006.491 hectares and a population of 7100 inhabitants. The settlement is located in hilly area, being part of the Plain and the Western Hills. It is a commune bordering Hungary, the link being made through the crossing point Letavertes - Székelyhíd town located 12 km from the Diosig. The village is crossed by Ler River, a tributary of the river Barcau. Regarding the climate, the village has a climate of moderate level, with a characteristic fauna forest. In the commune there are utilities: electricity, water, sewer, fixed - mobile service providers cable TV, internet and a sanitation service.

From ancient times Diosig was renowned for the cultivation of vines. A major contribution to our community we have Diosig Vineyards with the most famous varieties of wine grapes and table wines with recognized especially in the area west of the country but also abroad. Annually in competitions organized joint tasting of wines produced by local growers and the vine from the neighborhood. We pride ourselves also with economic development - social, but also with a history turmoil.
School vines (1870) - the first school of vines in the county, gallery people with outstanding figures in the history of the village, Castle Zichy are also reasons of pride of community Diosig.
