Albestii de Muscel is a commune in the northern part of Arges county, Muntenia, Romania. We have as commune residence Albesti and one village - Candesti. Located near Campulung Muscel town. Known for its Albesti de Muscel stones which have a specific quality.
Famous for its white stone quality, Albestii de Muscel kept its traditional activities like sculpture and carvering but also the husbandry tied to Sumedru's fire festivity. The fact that is located near Campulung - Muscel and Curtea de Arges and the mountain rivers and lawns make of this commune an important touristic atraction.
History
We don't know exactly when this village appeared. But we know for sure, that, in Roman times, we quarried out from the careers, famous nowadays and we were using the stone to roman house construction, to public buildings and to road construction.

Albesti de Muscel is famous for centuries for its white stone quality - Jidava roman house is made of Albesti stone. The stone quality atracted a lot of local and stranger craftsman from Greece and Italy.

Recently reconstructed, Albestii de Muscel commune refinds its local traditions and events. The Community Days are very important for the inhabitants and are hold on15 August, Saint Mary's celebration in Albesti and on 8 september in Candesti.
