Beekeeping and bio aquaculture, promoted through a cross-border project
20.10.2011
Beekeeping and organic aquaculture have been promoted in a seminar taking place in Sânnicolau Mare (Timiş County), part of a Romanian – Hungarian cross-border project called “Eco-farming, keeping cultures in communities from areas specialised in obtaining the products of farming, animal husbandry and pomology. Debates focused on culture types existing in nearby border areas, with special emphasis on organic farming as a market request. “The project aims specifically to make people in areas close to the Hungarian border aware about the importance of bio farming, have them learn how to work from their neighbours”, project manager Ana-Maria Kormany says.
Another goal is encouraging people and companies active in agriculture to switch to organic farming, which is the current trend.
Beekeping products that can be obtained through organic methods are honey, royal jelly, pollen, propolis, bee venom and wax. Eco aquaculture involves reducing the density of fish in the exploited surface in order to create the best development conditions.
