More than 1.5 Romanians will get the aid offered by the Ministry of Labour for heating of homes, in the cold season 2011-2012, following an increase of the maximum revenue limit.
The new season means new laws which have eliminated the subsidies offered to local authorities and thermal energy providers for the central heating system. Under these circumstances, the Ministry of Labour supplemented social protection measures for the most vulnerable population groups. The maximum revenue of people eligible for heating aid was raised from 615 to 786 Lei / person – in the case of families and 1,082 Lei – for single people.
Compensations from the heating bill can reach 100% for the poorest families and single people with income up to 155 Lei. Families with 786 Lei income / person get 5% compensation and single people with 1,082 Lei get 10% off their bill.
