EPSA 2011

The Knowledge Based Economy Project has received a new certification of Good Practice at the 2011 „European Public Sector Awards” (EPSA) within the European Institution of Public Administration.

The Best Practice Certificate has been received upon three evaluation steps made by an experienced jury, comprising a shortlist of 58 nominees from a total of 274 projects from 33 participating countries. The Ministry of Communications and Information Society, through the Project Management Unit, competed  in the EPSA 2011 Awards at the „Smart Public Service in a Cold Economic Climate”category. This Best Practice distinction rewards and certify the outstanding results that KEP Project has had until now.

 

The COMPUTERWORLD Honors Program

The Project Management Unit, within the Ministry of Communications and Information Society, has been named a Laureate in the 2011 ComputerWorld Honors Program.

The „Knowledge based Economy Project” joins 254 others from 23 countries as Laureates in this year’s program, from more than 1000 applicants world wide.

The Awards Ceremony will be held in June, 20th 2011, in Washington D.C., USA.

 

National Agency of Public Servants

1st Prize at the National Competition of Best Practices in Public Administration, , for "Improving public services through quality management and organizational performance" category, organized by the National Agency of Public Servants in 2010.

Knowledge based Economy Project is considered to be an example of good practice in Romania's public administration due to its remarkable results, its proven efficiency and its disseminated practices.

 

THE HIGHEST HONOR IN PROJECT MANAGEMENT

Finalist, at the International Project Excellence Awards 2010, in "Project Excellence in Medium-Sized Projects" category, organized by the International Project Management Association (IPMA).

The solid implementation and success of the IT&C Training Program in school and business and the eCommunity.ro Portal, both part of the KEP Project, have impressed the IPMA jury (Project Management International Association), who recommends them as one of the most important achievements in project management.

 

e-Inclusion 2008

Medal at the e-Inclusion Competitionorganized by the European Commission, at the section “Geographic Inclusion” section, Vienna, 2008. The Knowledge based Economy Project is considered an example of good practice for effective use of IT&C and digital technology to tackle social disadvantage and digital exclusion.

 

Romanian IT&C Awards 2006

Knowledge Based Economy was considered to be the "Project with the best informational content" at the Romanian IT&C Awards – Bucharest, 2006, for contributing to the extensive process of expanding access to information technologies and modern communications to rural communities.

Architectural Monuments

ALBA
The Alba Iulia Stronghold

The stronghold from Alba Iulia was build between the years 1714-1738, being considered the most representative Vauban type rampart fortification from our country. The stronghold plan was made by the Italian architect Giovanni Morendo Visconti, under the supervision of general Stefan de Steinville, fallowed by general Weiss. The actual work at the Alba Iulia stronghold started on 4 November 1715, when the cornerstone of was put in, on the Carol rampart, in the memory of the emperor, on the north side of the stronghold.

BRAŞOV

It’s a construction in “brancovenesc” architecture, creation of a local craftsman, built in the year 1793.In the yard there is a summer pavilion, witch covers both the oriental and “brancovean” art.

CRAIOVA
The Cosuna and Jitianu Monastery from Craiova

It is considered to be ordered by Serban Voievod(1654-1658).The church was rehabilitated in 1717, 1852, 1910, 1926 and 1958. In the course of history of Craiova, at Jitianu the armies guarding the city were often sheltered. Today inside the civilian building of the monastery there is a beautiful collection of medieval art from Oltenia.

HUNEDOARA
The Deva Stronghold

The Deva Stronghold(Castrum Deve),situated on the Cetatii Hill, north west of the city of Deva , at an altitude of 371 meters. The stronghold was build on the remains of an old dacians and romans fortification. The first works here are dated on the first years of the XI century, after the Hungarians were defeated by the duce Ahtum from the Morisena Stronghold(Cenad),when the first colonists came from the west. Other work was executed on the time of the Hungarian king Geza ÎI (1141-1161),when the first german colonists came in Ardeal. Most likely the stronghold was risen around the year 1250, in the time of king Bela IV, after the invasion of the tartars from 1241, witch destroyed the valley of the Mures.

It was built to serve as a office of the University Foundation “Regele Ferdinand I”, wanting to be a cultural landmark on the occasion of Ferndinand’s 60 birthday. In the year 1928 the building was bought from where the current library is located, a design contest was made witch was won by the engineer Emil Prager. The work took place between 1930-1934. Because of the economical problems the building didn’t receive an inauguration party. On the roof of the building there were suppose to be the statues of the most representative rulers from the romanian history, amongst them were Carol I and Ferdinand. Symbolically speaking this idea wanted to mention the name of the two kings in the romanian hall of fame. The group made by C. Jotzu in the years 1933-1934 wasn’t put in the initial location, because of the structure of the building. The statues were put in the yard of the libray.

MEHEDINŢI
The Monument of Heroes from Drobeta

The Monument of Heroes is dedicated to the heroes of the First World War. The monument was inaugurated at 4 june 1933 and raised from the initiative of the mayor Virgil Netta. Located in the “Parcul Rozelor”, the edifice is a recognition of the soldiers that fell in the First World War. It was build by the architect Slate Balosin, the sculptor Teodor Burca and the stonemason Carol Umberto.

MUREŞ
The Wooden Church Sf. Arhanghel Mihail From Târgu Mureş

The church inherits the old style and it is build according to the popular technique, traditional in Transilvania with wood bound in “cheutori in coada de randunica”. This type proved to be more resistant than the stone one. The main element of the church is the bell tower. The inscriptions that marks the iconostasis reveal to us that it was finished in 1814.It was build between the years 1793-1794 with the support of the trader Hagi Stoian Constandin and his wife.

NEAMŢ
The Neamţ Stronghold

Situated in the north east part of the Neamt Country, at about 46 km from the country seat and in the near vicinity of the Tg Neamt City, makes this stronghold a medieval monument with an exceptional value. The fortifications of the Stronghold were supposed to be an important foothold in the defense of the Moldavin border from the most important threat for the people from that time, witch came from the Hungarian kingdom. Guarding near the highest peak of the “Culmea Plesului”, the stronghold kept safe the valley of the Moldova, Siret and the mountain road. It was present in events of prime importance to the history of the country.

SATU MARE
The Fireman Tower from Satu Mare

It was built during 1903-1904. The tower has a total hight of 45 m.At the base it has a rectangular section in the exterior with the side of 4.32 m, the interior being realized octagonally, the width of the walls is 80 cm.From the cote +9.93 m up, the tower is passed to a circular section with a variable diameter on height from 3.90 m measured on the inferior side reducing to 3.0 m on the superior side.The width of the walls is also variable, reducing in steps from 80cm at the base to 45 cm under the level of the circular balcony. Above the circular balcony and until the base of the decorative cupola the bricklayer of the tower has the width of 30 cm. The access till the platform of the circular balcony is made through a metallic stair in spiral. The platform of the circular balcony is realized as a wood floor sustained with metallic cross bars. The platform is appended with a protection balustrade from forged iron. The decorative cupola is realized from wood and the cover from copper foil. In the top of the cupola there is an old armory of the city.The entrance is made threw a portal with a triangular fronton, having above it three boxes formed by four carved rock rods, where there were three texts viewing the construction of the tower and the context in which it was realized.The builder of the tower was Vainay Ludovic. Today it is a symbol of the old town.

Sinagoga from Satu Mare

Is built in Moorish style at the beginning of the century ; it presents a tripartite facade, and beside the facade lies the prayer house and the temple. In Satu Mare there were three synagogues. The Neolog Synagogue functioned between 1905-1965. Judas Grunwald is mentioned on the rabble chair created in Satu Mare ( in 1850 ). There is also a tight connection with the Jews from Sighet. Their rabbi , Eleazar Teitelbaum (1788-1855) had a hasidic orientation which prolonged here too. The Zionist movement tied up by the name of dr. John Ronai (1849-1919) had in Satu Mare as a leader the first – rabbi Jordan ( 1908-2000 members). During 1941-1944 the Jewish community had circa 25000 members. A remarkable personality of the Jewish community in Satu Mare was Joel Teitelbaum, chief rabbi of New York city after the World War II , also the leader of the Zionist grouping.

SIBIU

The actual building of the Sibiu town hall, was built at the beginning of the XX century in eclectit with elements of Art Nouveau.The building served as the headquarters of a bank from the year 1906. The building was nationalized in the communist period, hosting different administrative and financial institutions. After 1990 this institutions retired one at a time, and the building returned to the municipality. It was rebuild and repaired.

The stairway passage from Sibu
One of the most romantic places in Sibiu is the stairway passage witch connect the Upper Town to the Lower Town. Built in the XII century, it still keeps its original aspect. At the intersection of Tunului Street with the Alexandru Odobescu Street are some houses dating the XVII century. The building from the southern part of the stairway host the restaurant “Butoiul de Aur”, the oldest restaurant from Romania witch kept the same location. The legend says that Mihai Viteazul himself after the battle of Shelimber dined here. The passage has two arcs. At the superior end the passage continues near a fortified wall parallel with the Al. Odobescu Street.
