Partnerships without borders at PAPI Cândeşti
02.11.2011
PAPI Cândeşti (Botoşani County) is actively involved in the relationships with Romanians living in the Ukraine. RECL employees designed and intermediated several actions aiming to bring the two Romanian communities closer, regardless of which side of the Prut river they live on. One of the latest projects received 1.9 million Euros worth of financing and will mean repairing the 8 kilometre road known as the „Old Ukrainian Road”.
„It’s a road connected to the Ukraine border and allows easier access of visitors from the north of Prut, but also in the county, to cultural and religious attractions in the area of Cândești. The works will take 20 months, and the road will be over in 2014”, Ionuţ Ungureanu, RECL Cândeşti manager, explains.
The project was financed through Phare 2008, part of the cross-border partnerships component.
