Equipment received through KEP brings art prizes to school in Ștefan cel Mare
27.01.2012
| Teachers and pupils in Ştefan cel Mare (Călăraşi County) were once again successful, this time in the competition called „Winner through art”, organised in Iași. They were even surprised to learn that, in one of the contest’s sections, they received the Grand Trophy. The works they participated with were created and sent in electronic format by using the computers received by the school through the Knowledge-Based Economy Project. |
It all started when the school in Ştefan cel Mare received an email informing teachers about the second edition of the exhibition and competition “Winner through art”, organised by the Iași County Educational Board and the Cultural-Scientific Association “Vasile Pogor”, taking place nation-wide.
Although the autumn holiday was close, and primary school children were soon to be on a break from school, teachers did not hesitate. For a week, primary school teacher Mariana Sprînceană, teacher Ciprian Pandea and librarian Adriana Iliuţă worked hand in hand with children and managed to send to Iaşi works for all three sections: literary creation, visual arts, music and dance.
KEP computers, indispensable tools
Teachers had two ways to send the materials for the competition in Iași: in electronic format through email, or through regular post.
Since the school has computers through the Knowledge-Based Economy Project, teachers chose to save time and use them. The equipment was used to create the computer graphic work, the one that actually won first prize.
The Folkloric Ensemble “Muguraşii” (Little Buds) got the Grand Trophy
In the music and dance section, the Secondary School in Ștefan cel Mare participated with a video recording of the folkloric ensemble “Muguraşii”, which impressed the jury. They decided to award them the trophy, and the news that their work of three years was recognised was a huge joy for pupils in the ensemble and the teachers coordinating them. „This result is the crowning achievement of extra-curricular activities through which children have proven they can keep improving and that they remember the Romanian traditions. They try to pass on dances which represent us and which, I believe, cannot be equalled by any tradition of any other country”, teacher Ciprian Pandea says.
Other three prizes for the school
Children from the Secondary School in Ştefan cel Mare succeeded in convincing jury members they are the best when it came to other sections of the competition, too. „We’ve had two girls which participated in the song interpretation contest, where they also got the Grand Trophy. In the decorative objects section, Andreea Pandea, who creates earrings, bracelets and beads, took first place. She also got first place in computer graphics. It’s a huge honour for us and a great joy. We were expecting to come in second or third but did not think we would get the trophy, as it was a national competition”, primary school teacher Mariana Sprînceană says.
