Community: Amărăşti
Amărăşti commune is situated in the southern part of the Oltetului Platform from the Getic Plateau and its neighbors are Găvile commune in the north, Crețeni commune in the south, Sutești commune in the east and Guşoieni commune in the west. The village is composed of the localities Amărăşti, Memoiu, Mereşeşti, Palanga and Padina.
The territory of the commune has as characteristics hills with an altitude of 300-350 m, narrow peaks and the region of the medium height hills is cut by deep valleys.
For a side of the brooks grow cereals and vegetables, and the hills are suitable for vines and fruit trees.
The soil is friable materials - clays, marne, sand or prundişuri. Pesceana brook, stream and brook nimo Aninoasa crossing the village.
Is known by common folk group called "Haiducii from Amărăşti" participating in numerous national and international festivals.
History
City Amărăşti is documentary attested for the first time in 1779. Commune Amărăşti of Valcea county, its name drawn from a family of boyars Amărăscu, the tribe has given name to two common Dolj: AMĂRĂŞTII the Lower and Upper AMĂRĂŞTII.
