The PAPI centre in Glăvile, Vâlcea County, is turning each day at noon into a classroom for children in the community who go there for IT classes. Since there’s a tight schedule, there’s place for everyone. The great part is nobody ever hands out tests, since the teachers are also children: elderly pupils 10, 12 or 13 years old.
The manager of RECL Glăvile, Nicolae Drăghici, has selected some talented children and taught them how to use and maintain computers, how it can be used for learning, various activities and, of course, have fun. “I can go about my business and let them in the PAPI centre, because they can manage and I’ve never had any trouble. They take care of the equipment, turn it on and off, they can even format the computers… I have no trouble with them there. I created a strict schedule for pupils according to their school classes. For instance, from 12 to 1 PM the fifth grade comes in, from 1 to 2 PM the sixth grade and so on. So they won’t just sit around. This way, PAPI also works as an after-school centre”, Nicolae Drăghici says.
