PAPI Slobozia Bradului and Chiojdeni partner up for professional training
31.10.2011
PAPI centres in two KEP communities in Vrancea (Slobozia Bradului and Chiojdeni) were the local partners in developing projects against discrimination on the job market, by offering training to under-privileged categories such as women or Rroma ethnics.
PAPI Slobozia Bradului was the local partner of the project “Fighting discrimination and increasing employment potential of women in the countryside”, co-financed from the Social European Fund through the SOP HRD. The project belongs to the Association of Women and Families in the Countryside in Romania, in partnership with the Agrostar Union and the Association of Women and Families in Galicia (Spain) and the Vrancea branch of the Red Cross.
“We searched for those willing to attend professional training courses for different jobs; like hairdresser’s and manicures. Initially, we found 68 women interested, sent the database, and organisers selected 15 of them”, the RECL manager in Slobozia Bradului, Iulian Pârcălabu, says.
PAPI Chiojdeni was the local partner in a project to qualify members of another group sometimes discriminated against on the job market – members of the Rroma community.
“We organised a professional training course for the Rroma community, teaching them how to work in the milling – baking industry. 13 people, both men and women, attended. The course was organised as part of a partnership between the Chiojdeni City Hall and AJOFM, and we at PAPI advertised the courses, found and selected potential beneficiaries”, Cristian Tache, RECL Chiojdeni manager, explains.
