Supplementary transition period for alignment to certain community regulations
28.08.2011
The National Authority for Veterinary Health and Food Safety (NAVHFS) received the agreement in principle of the European Commission for a supplementary transition period to align to community requirements regarding raw cow’s milk, for at least one year after the initial deadline of December 31st, 2011.
NAVHFS experts want to create the final, detailed plan of implementing the measure, together with EC representatives, according to the authority’s press release. “The benefits of extending the transition period will be felt by all those involved in cow’s milk production, animal herders and operators, collection or processing centres. Those who raise a small number of animals will have the possibility to sell their milk for at least another year, and processing units can process and sell those products in Romania”, the authority representatives stated.
