The Permanent Election Authority and the Special Telecommunications Service have implemented an pilot project to computerise electoral activities taking place in poll stations. The first such tryout took place on August 21st, during the Partial Election for the Chamber of Deputies in the Sixth District of the commune Văleni, (Neamţ County). The main requirement for the system to work was to have polling stations connected to the Internet.
The City Hall proposed three people who were trained in using the software. RECL manager and IT administrator were chosen to be part of the group. “As such, in Văleni, thanks to the Knowledge-Based Economy Project, which ensuring the high-speed Internet access, the software checking CNPs (Romanian Personal Numeric Codes) was a success”, Văleni RECL manager Mirabela Gripca stated.
