Minister of Education Daniel Funeriu presented at the beginning of 2012 the project Discovery School, developed in Romania by Discovery Networks, in partnership with the Ministry of Education. The project involves presenting an educational programme on the Discovery Channel daily from 2 PM.
Monday, a Math programme will be broadcast, Tuesdays are reserved for chemistry, Wednesdays for Biology, Thursdays for Physics, Friday for other sciences. The programmes are dedicated to children from secondary schools and highschools, adapted for Romania, so there is congruence between what pupils do in school, lessons and what they see on screen.
Another component of the project is the website scoala.discovery.ro where teachers, pupils and parents can see all the extra materials for every show.
The minister announced so far 110 schools in Romania, from all countries, have teachers who will be trained in using resources from şcoala.discovery.ro and the complementary teaching methods.
