Renewed interest proves success of RECL Homocea trainings

19.01.2012

After the first 20 people graduated the training for “computer operators”, the RECL Homocea manager managed to get permission for two more series of trainigns from the team of the project “Way to Europe”. Other 40 locals are already interested in getting the qualification.

PAPI Homocea continues the success story of its professional training classes by organising, at the request of locals, two new series in the specialisation of “computer operator”.

In august, RECL manager Adina Grama signed a partnership with the Alsim Solutions & Consulting company, in order to include Homocea in the project “Way to Europe – Assisting people in rural areas with acquiring non-farming skills”, co-financed from the European Social Funds through the Sectoral Operation Programme Human Resrouces Development 2007-2013. Trainings were very successful among residents.

Mihaela Nechifor, one of the 20 graduates of the training, but also a graduate of the partnership between PAPI Homocea and the Centre for Analysis and Institutional Development – Eleutheria (CADI), said she is very happy with attending the training, which opened up new professional perspectives. “I for one am very happy because I’ve learned a lot of new things. Information reaches villages very slowly; there are many new things we don’t have access to. That’s why we are interested in everything new we can learn. At the entrepreneurial training I really learned a lot I didn’t know. I’m very interested in accounting, IT and management”, Mihaela Nechifor says. She intends to attend a new course in accounting and management and start a private enterprise.

New series of trainings

The success of such trainings, but also the perspectives offered by the new qualifications for people who are looking for a job, have convinced lots of young people to want to attend the trainings. Following the many requests for organising such classes, RECL manager Adina Grama negociated with the project’s team and managed to get two new series of trainings organised for “computer operators”, for the benefit of the unemployed. “This way, some of the people who do not have jobs will get free training as part of a project called «Way to Europe – Offering non-farming skills to people in rural areas». Training will take place in Bucharest, and trainees will get transport, accommodation and meals, all costs being included in the project”, RECL manager explains.

When preparing the new series of trainings, Adina Grama the documents of locals in the target group to the training providers.

Villagers are very content

The RECL manager says that villagers in Homocea are very interested in organising such training; a very non-formal, but very clear indicator, is the fact that when they meet her on the street, locals ask about new trainings at PAPI. “I am very happy and I always try to bring such projects to the community, because I want to support the development of the job market in the Homocea community. People are very happy because such projects are taking place. They stop me in the street and ask about new trainings, because they want to learn new things. Some even got jobs after graduating trainings which took place as part of other projects; they learned jobs like security agent, commercial workers, butchers and caretaker for the elderly”, RECL manager Adina Grama sums up.

Professional training for women who do not have jobs

PAPI Homocea had other projects to help locals looking with their professional training. Among them, the SOP HRD project „Fighting discrimination and increasing employment potential for women in rural areas”. Dozens of women in Homocea received training. PAPI is also the local partner of the Association of Women and Families in the Countryside and the AJOFM Vrancea. Some 55 women in Homocea learned how to work as manicurist, caretakers for children, commercial workers, worker in a canned goods factory.
