„Winter Party” at PAPI Mircea Vodă

24.01.2012

After an year filled with projects, trainings and other activities part of the KEP, the PAPI in Mircea Vodă decided to organise a different type of activity for locals – an evening dedicat to community members, including a beauty pageant, dance and karaoke.

Winter Party was the name chosen by RECL manager Cornelia Presada for the event which took place at the local Cultural Centre on January 6th. Children, youth, adults and even grandparents were invited. The RECL manager promised a series of surprises and she was as good as her word. The room was almost full and for the next four hours locals in Mircea Vodă, Brăila County, had fun, made new friends and felt like in one big family.

Karaoke with the video projector and computer at PAPI

Winter Party was neverending stream of surprises for attendees. All activities were interactive, as competitions were open for the audience. The evening started with a dancing contest. Seven pairs had to prove they are good at modern and society dances. The best dancers were rewarded by a jury including representatives of local companies. „We spoke with several companies and they offered their support. Some sponsored the activity, others were in the jury”, the RECL manager says.

Winter Party, opportunity to promote the KEP

The Knowledge-Based Economy Project (KEP) was promoted during the party. All spectators could participate in a raffle. The printed tickets had information meant to emphasise the benefits of KEP. At the same time, the computer and the projector owned by PAPI were essential for the competition. „In the karaoke contest, lyrics were projected with the computer and projector, so that people in the audience could see. Much to our surprise, first place went to a 20 year old boy who sang a folkloric song”, Cornelia Presada says.

The Mircea Vodă community, one big family

Prizes offered to winners were rather symbolic – photo albums and frames, winter clothes and books. RECL manager Cornelia Presada, also a librarian in Mircea Vodă, offered participants books from her own library, to remind them the benefits of reading. The value of the prizes was however not that important for winners. The full room, the general enthusiasm and new friendships have proven that the party was a complete hit. „We wanted to get locals out, to make them interact. Second of all, we wanted to promote the local economy. We also wanted to show young people that they can have everything city people have. During that night we felt like one big family”, RECL manager Cornelia Presada says.
