Community: Anina
Anina city is located in the central part of Caraş-Severin County, at 36 km away from Reşiţa residence, at an average altitude of 645 m. The city is surrounded by Aninei Mountanains which are the southern extension of Occidentali/ Western Carpathians.
The railway Oraviţa-Anina was the first montaineous railway built in Romania. Part of the route is still functioning today, just as it happened half a century ago. The railway Oraviţa - Anina is part of the old transport coal road to Baziaș port and was built 144 years ago. It is a route of 32 km, to be made in two hours and a half, sprinkled with 14 tunnels carved into the rock and 17 viaducts suspended in giddy heights.

In 1790, Mathias Hammer discovers the first piece of coal, putting the foundation for the future city, Anina.

Local resources
Traditionally, Anina area is know for activities such as mining and wood processing. In the condition in which coal is no longer processed, area should define a first activity, but has to be careful not to repeat the mistake of becoming a single industry area.

Traditions
Fasang is balls and carnival period, preceding Easter Fasting period. In this period several events take place, out of which we mention: Masked ball, women ball, firefighters ball, spring ball. Parties are one after the othet,with music ensured by the city's fanfare.
