Community: Aninoasa
Aninoasa is situated in Hunedoara county. Valea Jiului depression, in which Aninoasa town is settled, is high enough, its average altitude being 556 m at confluence of the Jiu rivers, 800 m towards the Eastern and Western borders. In this region there can be found mountains with a height of over 2000 m covered with extensive forests of leafy and coniferous trees: Parâng Mountains and Valcan Mountains.
The settlement from Jiului Valley, marked with the "mormarlani" culture, Aninoasa is a keeper of the old traditions like the national costume or "Nedea Tulipanului" and benefits from opening to turist areas like Straja, Parâng or Retezat. At present the town incourages the development and the initiatives of the young people like the Children's Local Council.
History
Iscroni village, belonging to the commune, was documentary attested in 1733 and is considered one of the oldest villages from Jiului Valley. Along with the development of the mining industry, after 1840, people from all over the country started to come work in the mines from Jiului Valley. Aninoasa was declared town in 1989.

Traditions
The migrating work force phenomenon was intense in the commune and therefore the local population felt the need to make a distinction between the indigenous and the persons who came from other areas. Consequently, the indigenous from Aninoasa started to call themselves "momarlani" and called the ones coming from other parts of the country "barabe"
