Community: Arsura
Arsura commune, situated in the North-Eastern part of Vaslui county, is a 3rd degree rural territorial-administrative unit (less than 3000 inhabitants).
Arsura commune comprises the villages: Arsura, Pâhneşti, Fundătura and Mihail Kogălniceanu. The total surface of the commune is 4,063 Ha from which: inhabited surface - 349 Ha and outer-inhabited surface – 3714 Ha. Also, Arsura is situated 80 km away from Vaslui, 27 km away from Huşi and 7 km away from Albiţa. The climate is temperate-continental with Eastern influences, being characterised by big thermo-amplitudes and by uneven precipitations, the annual medium temperature being somewhere around 9 degrees Celsius and the dominant direction of the wind is from the North and South.
Vaslui county has a very old tradition in vine growing. In Arsura commune there are famous vineyards for the wine quantity, and especially for the wine quality.
History
At the beginning of the 19th century, on the spot where the precincts of the village are otday, there was a forest. A goup of people with the wish to set up a village, burnt it, building their households after that, giving the new settlement the name ARSURA (the BURN).
