Community: Berchiseşti
The Berchiseşti commune comprises the villages of Berchiseşti and Corlata.
The Berchiseşti village is an old human settlement, situated on both banks of the Moldova river, at the very point where the water course leaves the dark gorge of the mountains and directs itself towards the hilly regions of Moldova.
Since ancient times, the river has been used as a halting place on the transportation route leading from Bistriţa towards East and over the mountain, following the river up to Baia and further away to the Siret river.
We are proud of our wonderful local scenary, of our people and of our customs passed on from generation to generation.
History
Berchiseşti village's first written mention was on the 13th of September, 1473, when the boyard Toader Corlat inherited the villages Berchiseşti and Corlat.
