Community: Câmpeni
Câmpeni is a locality with great emotional resonance in the hearts of all Romanians, for its unique beauty of the landscape, but especially for the remarkable people who have profoundly marked the history of the Romanian people, like the great heroes Horea, Cloşca and Crişan, the leaders of the rebellion for social and national rights from 1874-1875, but especially for Avram Iancu, "The King of the Mountains", who, with his exceptional personality, contributed significantly to the events from the revolutionary years 1848-1849, leading along with the prefects, the battle of Romanians for social and national freedom.
Câmpeni prouds itself with a number of museums, monum,ents and cultural ensembles, like the "Avram Iancu" Câmpeni Museum which holds archeological vestiges attestin the inhabittance of these beutyful lands for thousands of years. There is also a section dedicated to the King of the Muntains, Avram Iancu, leader of the rebellion from 1848.
History
In 1618 there has been a strong peasant's movement, and later on, inhabitants of the area joined the fight of the monk Sofronie din Cioara.
