Community: Corneşti
Corneşti commune is situated in the Gherla-Dej pre-town area, along Lujerdiului valley, a left tributary of the Someşul Mic river, having a length of 26 km and a natural landscape between Cluj and Dej hills with altitudes between 300 and 600 meters. The area is predominantly hill to mountain with a maximum altitude of over 650 meters, with temperate climate and moderate rainfall. The commune neighbours to the north with Bobâlna commune, to the South - Iclod commune, to the East - Aluniş commune and to the West - Dabaca and Panticeu communes. Corneşti commune consists of 9 villages: Lugerdiu, Morau, Stoiana, Corneşti, Tiocu de Jos, Tiocu de Sus, Igriţia, Bârlea, Tioltiur, spread on an area of 8298 ha.
We are proud of the natural environment (woody hills), an area rich in volcanic rock and rich and valuable fauna and flora.
History
The settlements have been attested documentary from 1200, with trends over time and structural changes. One of the tourist attractions is the monument of the revolted peasants from 1437 at Bobâlna and the church built by Mihai Viteazu in Lujerdiu locality.

Traditions
If before collectivization that took place in 1962 the traditions and customs had a place of honour in the community, today they are practised only rarely and isolated.
