Community: Gălăneşti
Gălăneşti commune is part of the Suceava county, being located near the town of Radauti, on the way to Putna Monastery.
Both the number of inhabitants and the area they occupy, place Gălăneştii between the medium-sized communes of the county. The surface of the inside of the Gălăneşti commune is 460.40 ha, out of which:
Gălăneşti village: 321.21 ha;
Hurjuieni village: 139.12 ha;
habitable area: 38,858 m2.
Gălăneşti commune is an example of the Romanian identity and continuity in a region that was often in cruelty of fate (Austrian occupation, war, dismemberment Bukovina collectivization). At Gălăneşti is an important creation of the Romanian Academy.
History
Mentioned in the documents of the XV century as Balasinauti, it seems that the town has deep roots stuck in the tumultuous history of Moldova.

Traditions
Few of those who live here have kept their crafts of yesteryear, but there are also a few who make spoons, backs, "scacite for mujdei", basckets from roods and swabs, even founding family associations.
