Community: Giera
Giera commune is geographically placed in the south-west part of Timis county, in the ex position of Ciacova (Modos) near to the Yugoslavian border. Historically speaking, the continuity on these lands is certified since the oldest time, this commune being the property of Cened people in 1322 and between 1723-1725 we found it on the map of Mercy Count under the name of Gyr, in 1795 becoming the property of Gyertyanffy Family.
The commune is proud about the existence of an multiethnic culture, Romanians, Hungarians, Germans, Serbs and Romans and also of a peaceful grade of the cohabitation of different religious confessions: Ortodox, Roman-Catholic, Reformat, Pentecostal, Neoprotestant etc
History
Historical milestones:
1322 – the first documentary certification on Giera locality, as a property of Cened people.
1343-1379 – is remembered under the name of Gor.

The total area in the administrative limits of the commune is of 9175.34 ha from which 8556.38 agricultural terrains (6432.1 ha agricultural, 1992 ha pastures, 152.20 ha hays, 0.16 ha vineyards, 7 ha orchards) and the existent intravilan of Giera locality is of 71.53ha.
