Community: Grindu
Grindu commune is a settlement of people from father to son mostly fishermen, who have become for necessity farmers and livestock breeders after the embankment and draining of the swamps. Everything that is happening in the village is linked to the inexhaustible resources of the old river, the Danube. Stories, legends and memories of these people are in one way or another connected to the water flowing fom centuries on this settlement. Located in the south-eastern part of Romania and in the north-western part of Tulcea County, glued to the Danube, the village is along the great sweep of water, which managed only here to proceed towards the sea. Pisica Elbow as it is known for centuries, is a right angle turning of the Lower Danube. The water is tapping incessantly to the not too high coast, without noise nor too high waves. Only the storms, which appear rarely throughout these places, or the heavy rains that often threaten to flood the entire place, are the only ones seldom disturbing the smooth and quiet cou
Grindu's inhabitants are proud of the Danube river passing their village.
