Community: Iana
Iana commune is located on Tutovei hills. The commune's relief mostly consists of narrow, high and oblong hills. The maximum altitude can be found in Recea village - Islaz Hill which has a height of 365 metres. Other altitudes - Pandela Hill which has a height of 315 m. The relief allows for the movement of emergency vehicles. The village is situated in an area where clay soils are predominant, the main type of soil being the brown soil. The village exhibits a continental climate with cold winters and hot and dry summers. The average annual temperature is 9.8 degrees Celsius. Last year, the maximum temperature was recorded in July (21.5 degrees Celsius) whereas the minimum temperature was recorded in January (-3.5 degrees Celsius). In 1936 the maximum temperature reached 39.7 degrees Celsius, and in 1942 a minimum value of -30.5 degrees Celsius was recorded. Iana commune takes pride in the Tutova Hills Vineyard which is a part of the Moldova Hills wine-growing district. For centuries, these vineyards from Vaslui county have been considered to be some of the best in the country.
