Community: Mărăşeşti
City Mărăşeşti of the Vrancea County and is located on the right bank of the Siret River, near the confluence with the brook Susita. The climate is temperate, but shows large seasonal variations. Hydrographic network is represented by Siret, which is the river with the largest catchment area of the country, and its tributaries, and Zăbrăuţi Susita. Plants are commonly encountered: nettle, dandelion, wormwood, wild apple, mouse tail, shock, chamomile, whirlpool. Fauna is represented by birds (bird, privighetoarea, crow, magpie, pigeon hawk, pheasant), reptiles, rodents (hamster, popândăul, rabbit). Together they are found wild boar, fox, polecat, deer, and aquatic fauna represented by different species of fish (carp, pike, sleep, eel).
Battle of Mărăşeşti was the largest military operation undertaken by the Romanian army during World War I, is also one of the most important operations carried out by allied troops during the war. It was a complex operation, defense and maintenance of front line dotted with numerous offensive retort from the Romanians. In the heart of Romania, this battle has a special place because of the heroism that they gave evidence ostaşii Romanian and legends created around some of them, but mostly because legendary phrase "Do not cross through here!"
History
The first document attesting the existence Mărăşeşti city is a document signed by Petru Aron, Prince of Moldavia, 20 August 1455. In 1789, the city hosts Mărăşeşti battles of Russo-Austrian army and the Turks. Following their Mărăşeştiul burned entirely.
