Community: Murgeni
Murgeni is a community located in the southern part of Vaslui County, Moldavia, Romania. It was named a city in December 2003. It is composed by 6 villages plus Murgeni city as follows: Floreni, Raiu, Cârja, Lăţesti, Sărăţeni, Schineni, Murgeni city. The total area of the community has: 135,19km².
In the town Murgeni there is a modern high school where pupils are educated in agriculture and economy.
History
The first written record about Murgeni as a community of free people (yeoman) occurred during the reign of Alexandru cel Bun (1400-1432) and add up in the time of Stephen the Great (1457-1504), during which the village is also archaeologically documented.
