At the foot of hills, on Danube river bank feeling the sea breeze, near the Russians, on road, on water and air, on the way of the pelicans and all migratory birds, where the Delta and tranquility start, always safe from earthquakes, wars, evils and thirst, with people of all kinds from Tartars to Germans and from Slavians to Greeks...who remained here like good Romanians. Fresh fish lively landscapes, dream-like vicinities, stable towns, beautiful children and swimmers, climbing plants, sometimes with fogs of 1 m high, willows that cry and laugh. No smoke, no noise, no crowd.
Nufăru and Ilganii de Jos villages are located on both banks of Sf. Gheorghe branch and of Danube river. If about Nufăru it could be said that it is a village under the influence of urban civilization (at only 12 km away fro Tulcea city), then Ilganii de Jos are influenced by the wonderful landscape made of ponds, willows, pelicans, fishing boats, tranquility, green and blue, reed, wandering and rediscovering. From Nufăru to Ilgani de Jos you can cross with the boat or ferry-Nufăru being thus considered an entrance gate in Danube Delta both on water and land. And this happens from the oldest times. In the central area of Nufăru village and in its surroundings there can be seen vestiges of a blooming X century: Prislava fortress. If Malcoci, Victoria and Ilganii de jos do not have an impressie past (were founded around XIX century), Nufăru village has in its underground a lot of vestiges dating back to the beginning of our common era.
