Roata de Jos is a village of Giurgiu county, in Wallachia, Romania.
The village consists of the following parts: Roata de Jos , Roata Mica, Sadina, Cartojani and covers an area of 8295 ha.
The Roata de Jos commune is located in the Găvanu-Burdea Plain, which is a part of the great Romanian Plain, integrated in its subdivision called Dâmbovnicului Plain, situated at an altitude of 100-122 m over sea level.
The territory of the commune witnesses temperate continental climate, with shades of transition, with a local climate characteristic of forests and forest steppe. Most commonly, the winds are from the South-West, South and West and from North-East.
Among local seasonal winds, one must note: austrul, crivăţul and băltăreţul. On the territory of village, particularly in or near the forests, there are wild animals such as fox, rabbit and increasingly rare marten, as well as the wild boar and squirrel.
