Community: Sângeorgiu de Pădure
Sângeorgiu de Pădure commune is located in the eastern, south-eastern part of Mureş County, along Tîrnava Mică river, at 25 km. away from Sovata city and 42 km. away from Tîrgu-Mureş town, on both banks of the river, surrounded by hills and forests.
The place is communal center, located in the superior course area of Tîrnava Mică river, of which villages Bezid, Bezidu-Nou and hamlets Loţu and Borzund are belonging.
The braked relief, with level differences, profound erosions and şi portions of landslides, characterize the commune's area.
Queen Elisabeth the II's great great-grandmother of Great Britain, Claudia Rhedey, was born and burried in Sângeorgiu de Pădure city.
History
The settlement is among the ancient ones, near the place (Cseholdal, Várhegy, Senyevára etc.) were discovered archaeological remains of the Bronze and Iron Age.
