Commune Sânpaul is located in the western part of Mures, 18 km away from city of Targu Mures.
Commune Sânpaul consists of villages Izvoarelor Valley, Chirileu, Sânmarghita, New Dileul and Sânpaul.
Village Sânpaul is documentary attested in 1332 with the name of Sancta Paulo. The village is situated on the river Mures, by road DN 15 Targu Mures - Turda - Cluj-Napoca, the city of Targu Mures and Iernut. By Sânpaul rail passes Războieni-Cetate - Târgu Mureş - Deda.Comuna has a total area of 5400 ha. The forest is 650 ha, of which 20 ha belong Hall. Fruits of the Forest of spontaneous are: raspberry, strawberry, eglantine, cătină, mulberry.
People from Mureş Sânpaul take pride in Haller Castle and chapel, which dates from the years 1745-1760 and the Roman Catholic Church in the XIV century.
History
First attestation of the village in 1263 is Chirileu as Kerlew and features in various historical documents.
