Community: Şimian
Simian village consists of three villages: Simian, Şilindru and Voivozi. City and thus the local government is in the village of Simian. Geographically,is placed in the northwest county Bihor. Are over 4000 people of which approx. 80% are Hungarians. Other major nationalities are Romanians and Roma. The western part of the village is bounded by sand dunes and the eastern part is dominated by a network of brooks and channels, swamp's tracks that were once dominating the landscape of Ierului Valley. Simian village was attested for the first time in documents written in 1321, but is surely that was founded before Tartars invasion from 1241. In terms of flora and fauna should be mentioned that the sand dunes are dominated by acacia forests and wildlife for the living environment (rabbit, fox, wild boar, deer, etc.).. The most important values are the traditions, etnographyc customs linked first of all to agriculture and different family celebrations. It is a relatively large no. of buildings having an historical value, most of them being built in the second part of the XIX century. The same importance for commune's inhabitants has the fact that Kazinczy (the great Hungarian literate) and Frater (folkloric composer) were born in Simian. We must not forgest the species of animal and plants which are protected by commune's territory.
History
The commune was founded in X century, its territory being lived also in the former historical times and after its foundation. The Symian name was mentioned for the first time in 1332. Local resources
