Community: Şimişna
Şimişna commune is situated along the valley of the same name,on the Somes Plateau,being located from the geomorphologic point of view in the piemonts and depressions of contact with the internal sub-Carpathians of Transylvania. Şimişna commune is among the largest and most beautiful rural estates in the county Sălaj.
Şimişna commune is re-established in 2002, being composed of two villages: Şimişna and Hasmas, Şimişna being the center of the commune.
Situated on the Valley Şimişnei between the hills that guard it, Şimişna locality is notable by the large number of fine houses and well maintained institutions. In the immediate vicinity of the church and the community center rises the grand and lighted Secondary School building. By the efforts of the teaching staff who served in this school for dozens and dozens of years, with toil and dedication, our school looks good and many people who have crossed the threshold of the school were surprised by the clean, comfortable and cared aspect of the institution.
Also, another source of pride is the church that was also renovated and painted. The church was built in 1896 and completed in 1906. During the years there have been carried out repairs and maintenance and the outside capital repairs started in 1987 and lasted until 1994, the exterior being made with terasit. History
The etymology of the word Şimişna "would come from the old Slavic language(" smog "," smazişi ") and would mean" dry ", so a dry place favorable for human settlements.
