Community: Şopârliţa
The Şopârliţa commune is a settlement located in a plain area, of medium dimensions, with houses being grouped one near the other, formed of two nuclei: the one on the hill, which stretches along the county road 644, for 2.4 km on the terrace of Olteţ river, and the valley nucleus which goes along the terrace's slope and is continued in the plain towards Olteţului meadow. The entire village is stetched in length from East to West. In the hilly side of the commune there are the local institutions: the townhall, police, school, the doctor, zhe Cultural Centre, the Social Assistance Centre, as well as the Şopârliţa flag station to the East. In the valley, there are the “Valea Plângerii”church and soccer field . The centre of each settlement is generally encountered in its hilly side, namely the area stretching from the Cultural Centre to the little park, but also for the valley part, namely the place bearing the name of "La Rascruci”. The inhabitants are mainly proud of the village's special name which is derived from a medieval legend and has then been passed down from generation to generation. The most important realization during the past years was the regaining of the commune status, a fact which triggered the founding of institutions which are vital for the functioning of the administrative apparatus, like the townhall, the local council, the agricultural assembly, the police station. Furthermore, the buildings where the main communal institutions reside, have been renovated, as it is the case for the townhall, school, cultural centre and police station.
