Community: Tamaşi
Tamasi commune is situated in the valley and terraces on the left side of Siret river, at the western edge of Tutova hills, on the other side of Bistriţa's infusion into Siret. Tamasi commune consists of three villages: Tamaşi, village of residence and Chetriş and Furnicari. In 2005, the commune was divided in two: Tamaş and Gioseni. The climate is specific for the hilly regions, temperate continental, with mild winters, not too cold and summers not too warm. During winter the average temperatures are between - 5-2 degrees, and in summer between 20-25 degrees. Rarely are there recorded temperatures exceeding these limits.
The name of this commune derives from ancient times, from the Scythian or Dacians, appearing under the name of Tamaş - Dava (tamaşi - tarred, dark hair and dáva - city, settlement), as shown in Vasile Pârvan's "Getica". In Giurescu History of Romanians, and a map of Dacia, as the 106 years before Christ - 27 after Christ indicate, in the historical map atlases, Tamaşi commune is found since ancient times on the site near the Bistriţei confluence with Siret (Bistriţei Mouth).
History
By the administrative - territorial reform of ruler Alexandru Ioan Cuza times, Gioseni commune used to be composed by the villages Gioseni, Fântâneanu, Chetriş, Răcătău, Bazga, Galeri and Horgeşti.
