Community: Târgu Lăpuş
Târgu Lăpuş is a small town in the South-East of Maramureş county in the ethnic-folkloric area of Ţara Lapusului. The locality is situated in a region of a rare pitoresque, where the smell of tradition is still in the air. The town is known for Rohia monastery and the numerous wooden churches, that are hundreds of years old.
Maramureşul is one of the main touristical destinations from Romania, and Ţara Lapuşului has an attraction specific for the romanian and foreign tourists. Lapuşului area, that has a special pitoresque of the nature, is rich in touristical attractions (patrimony churches, Rohia monastery, Lapuşului gorge).

Târgu Lapuş locality is documentary certified since 1291 although it is a lot older than the year mentioned in the charters.

For a long time tha main activity was the agriculture. It can be found here crops with corn, wheat, potatoes, oat, rye, sunflower, barley, cabbage, pumpkins and beans.
