Community: Valea Moldovei
Valea Moldovei commune is located at the contact of two large units morfostructural: Carpathian Orogen first Moldovenească platform and on the other. In the Carpathian of the Orogen enter a small portion of Neogene (Obcina Voroneţ) a little more developed portion of sub Carpathian Moldova, consisting of conglomerates and limestone. The altitude is between 400 m in the river valley and 970 m Moldova Mill Hill Dracului. P>
<>The lower parts of the territory consists of the alternate shales Grez, clays, marl formations and easily changeable, which favoured the formation of deep soils favourable forest vegetation and certain crops. Although this area is restricted area as it comprises 4 well outlined geomorphologic units and having its own character: p>
<> 1. Unit Stanisoara mountains with maximum height, with fragmentation and high relief energy, giving a note of dominance and particularly having regard to the space outside the village limits p>
<> 2. Unit sub-Carpathian, embossed with a highly fragmented and uneven, especially due to the presence of conglomerates , is outlined as a clear even if they are in the most northern. This unit seems "welded" the Carpathian while the outside ends abruptly with a genuine (extra Carpathian fault) of a tectonic-erosion p>
<> 3. Extra Carpathian Piedmont p>
<> 4. Baia Piedmont Plain, the lower unit and while the smooth-looking cvasi-horizontal. Consisting of terraces and meadows is mostly used by humans for agricultural and intensely humanized.
Valea Moldovei commune is situated only 5 km away from Slatina Monastery, built by the Moldavian ruler, Alexandru Lăpuşneanu.
History
Marks which prove the existence of some human settlements as far back as in the prefeudal age were identified in Valea Moldovei commune not far from the Community Center, where ”Necropola Tumulară” archaeological site was opened, dated 3rd-4th centuries after Christ.

Local resources
On the commune's territory, the most spread soils are: brown soils, loam, which occupy about 85% of the territory and acid brown soils representing 7%, and the rest of 8% being occupied by alluvial soils, less profound, specific to the meadow area and crude superficial soils on the degraded terrains.

The handicraft of artistic wood sculpting has been materialized in objects of great beauty as shape and ornamentation, the craft being practised until this day, with the same skilfulness.
