Community: Valea Viilor
Valea Viilor – „a piece of land from Transylvania. The valley of a mild brook, which flows into the Târnava Mare river, a valley guarded by woody hills, with gentle slopes, with pastures and meadows, with god soil for setting up human settlements. The wood „of the dragons” (Pădurea „smeilor și balaurilor”), the „warm hole” („gaura caldă”) concerning which the Transylvanian Saxon „guests” gained right of use. The place where they settled more than seven centuries ago and left as cultural heritage a remarkable fortified church.
The Romanians from Grui, their praying spots, language and customs kept from generation to generation and sung by the composer Marțian Negrea, the son of these lands. The land where Romanians and Transylvanian Saxons have known how to get along and get over the curse of the rough times and to leave their descendants a beautiful village which keeps the values of the culture and civilization of both communities. A place blessed by God and by the people.” - „Valea Viilor, Motiș-monografie”, Elena Jampa.
