Community: Vasilaţi
Vasilați commune is a typical plain settlement, situated in the Romanian Plain, close to the Southern extremity of the country, 30 km South from the capital, being crossed by Dâmbovița river. The local flora is specific to the plain area: vast agricultural surfaces with cereal crops, mainly. In the near vicinity of the locality there is a wood cluster, known as Popești forest, as well as the fishing ponds famous for their fishing potential.
Taking into consideration the fact that the opportunities which follow from the geographic localization of any locality, Vasilați commune is proud by its position in the vicinity of the country's capital. Thus, its possibilities of being part of the very-much discussed metropolitan area of Bucharest are quite high; later investments and the attractivity of the area will increase, the commune being the implicit beneficiary of an important role in the area.
History
Typical plain settlement, Vasilați commune is an old inhabited place. Archaeological discoveries show the present space of Vasilați commune as an ancient inhabited area, being permanently inhabited since Neolithic times.
