Community: Fălciu
Fălciu is situated in the south-eastern part of Vaslui County, on the river Prut bank. The area belongs to the stuctural unit of Bârlad Plateau, a subunit of the Moldavian Plateau. Fălciu's territory is extented on a North-South direction with two Moldavia Plateau subdivisions: Prutului plain to the East and the hilly hollow of Elanului to the west.
The total Fălciu surface has 16 435 hectares out of which 895,37 hectares are inside the village and 15 539, 63 hectares are outside the village.
Fălciu Land, later on the county with the same name, having its residence at Huşi, has a profound history. The first information about the place as an administrative unit is mentioned in “The Nuns' Cronicle from Putna Monastery” (it includes data between 1466 – and 1566) in which it shows that in those times Moldavia there were 24 lands among which Fălciu's with the residence in Fălciu Fair.

Local resources
Fălciu's economy is totally based on agriculture and this is due to the fact that Fălciul owns great parts of arable soil. The arable soil is used for the cereal cultures, corn and technical plants.
