Gheorgheni (in Hungarian Gyergyószentmiklós in translation "Sannicolau Gurghiului) is a town in Harghita county, Transylvania, Romania. It has a population of 20,018 inhabitants. The city is located in the eastern part of Depresiunii Gheorgheni (synonym: Depression Giurgeu).
City are likely to become a tourist town level, being favored by its geographical position right: between the mountains, near the lake dam Natural Red Lake (25 km) and 60 km to the resort Praid. You can also ski resort in spring Mures (at 20km), or you can visit the resort Borsec (approximately 50 km).
History
The city had been attested in the documents for the first time in a papal register from 1232, and then in 1285, in 1333 (sacerdos de Giorgio).
