Community: Lăpuşnicu Mare

Lăpuşnicu-Mare is located in Almajului Valley. Starting from Bozovici on 44 communal road, as long as 7 km, you reach to the crossing with the road that leads to Moceriş and Dalboşeţ, from which point you turn right and you already feel the excitement of coming into the village surrounded by hills which flow into the horizon in an infinite of colours. Almajului Depression called for centuries by its inhabitants Almajului Country is a true natural fortress surrounded by mountains: in the north-Semenic Mountains (1446 m), in the south-Almajului Mountains (1224 m), in north-west-Aninei Mountains (1160 m), in south-west-Locvei Mountains (735 m).

A mountain community in which traditions play an important role, Lăpuşnicu Mare has a local folklore that gravitates around the hidden treasures by Turks or outlaws and owns tourist attraction like Dracului Lake or Nerei Gorges. The commune celebrates cultural personalities that were born here such as Eftimie Gherman.

History

Lăpuşnicu-Mare locality, a piece of a Romanian hearth, placed between legend and reality, with its name originated from the Slavic "lapus"("pestilence weed"), gives personality to a village that offers you the possibility to assit to an exciting history lesson.
