Community: Petrila
City Petrila components are four villages: Tirici, Jieţ, Rascoala and Field, of Field and Jieţul they are very close, only road signs semnalând passage. By Valley Taia and Auselului can move mountains in Sebes Valley or Valley Cibin.
Jiu Valley climate is characterized by a mountain climate. The average temperature of January is between 3-6 degrees C and that of August between 14-18 degrees C. Moisture air is relative, the average monthly air moisture is higher in winter (84-88%) and at low heat (72-80%). Most days senine recorded during August-September and the rainy months is June with an average of 120-140 ml. Prevailing wind direction is south with average speeds of air currents relatively small.
At Jieţ, a settlement belonging Petrila have found traces of the exploitation of alluvial gold, by the Dacians and Romans called the place Hududeu where they discover dinar and Romans. People scene, shepherds and livestock breeders plaiurile on rich pasture, using "black stones that burn" in the making heated and trade coal layers are encountered at the very surface.
History
Petrila town, ancient settlement situated at 675 m elevation on the bank of the Jiu transilvan at the intersection with brook brook Jieţ Taia is attested in various documents, in the year 1499 and year 1493.

Local resources
The total area of the layers of coal-bearing basin of the Jiu Valley of interest from an economic standpoint, is approximately 170 km 2. Coal here are older and tertiary are at Lupeni Uricani, Vulcan, Petrila, Aninoasa, Lone, Paroseni, Livezeni, etc.
