Community: Vărădia de Mureş
Dating from 1369, the current common Varadia was due to its geographical position, a juncture area between Arad and Hunedoara, also was the first fort on the pass to Lipova Mures and Arad, thus playing an important role medieval history of the Banat and Transylvania. <>The commune's surface is 11,858.41 acres, of which 4763.26 acres is agricultural land and 6548.36 acres are covered with forests.

History
Vărădia commune has its origin thousands of years ago, in these places being, in the 2nd century B.C., a hallstatian settlement. Afterwards, at the beginning of our era (A.D.) there was a Dacian fortification which had tight relations with The Roman Empire from the South of Mureş river.

Traditions
As time passed, the traditions regarding the folk costume have been replaced with other types of clothes. The specific costume with embroidered corset, cloth waistcoat or sheepskin waistcoat with buttons, silk cloths and skirt with seams can only be seen worn by the elderly, on Whitsuntide.
